If it is for all users then cron is the answer. Add the entries in your root's crontab like: 00 04 * * 1-6 /sbin/ifup eth0 30 19 * * 1-6 /sbin/ifdown eth0 This will start the eth0 (assumed your LTSP net NIC) at 04:00 am from Mondays through Saturdays and close it at 19:30.
