Etherboot will only accept DHCP offers that contain a "filename". You should also make sure that a valid and reasonable "root-path" is set, and most people want to set a "router" as well.
If Etherboot prints F?F?F? (recent versions only), this is an indication it receives DHCP offers, but without filename supplied.
yes, that is exactly what it does - so the NIC is setup ok then... I'll look into my dhcp setup on the server - thanks for that.
