I will crank the Maxsessions to something like 5000. I will check the gdm version tonight.  The server was initially built Aug 2004, but it has been patched since. At any rate, I can't apply a new version till Friday though, so hopefully 5000 will be high enough to hold things together till then.  Not sure I like the idea of fiddling with gdm :) but ... que sera, I know I have to upgrade the system eventually, was just hoping to make it till summer break.
