Due I have also big problems with some machines I want to know if this new 
initrd image (with NFSOPTS) is already done by somebody? I'm quite new to 
linux, so I'm not able to make the changes you suggested.

Short Details of the problem:
Clients: HP Vectra XU 90C with 3c905c NIC's
Hangs at the pivot root if the network is plugged via switch, but it works if 
I connect the clients via Hub to the server.
Exactly the same NIC's work in "newer" machines very well...
