Subject: SIS900 boot issue

I run LTSP @ home using Dell 200mmx boxes as terminals, large and clunky. Friend was ditching a pair of circa 2000 AMD EasyNow! PC's. 500mhz K6, 64mb, 5 usb, CD rom. Figured a nice little upgrade for $0, with a much smaller case style (though the color is hideous.)

Anyhow. Went over to the Rom-O-Matic site and burned a CD image for the SIS900 adapter, no additional configuration changes.  The system will boot the SYSLINUX image, detect the PCI presence of the adapter, and even attempt to look for the DHCP server. But I am afraid it is to no avail. Right before the DHCP query is initiated the following line is displayed:

79c901:Media Link Off

Looking at the back of the unit, though the ether port shows hot, the link light shows no activity. Nor a link light on the hub it's cabled to. So I am stuck on how to kick start the data layer on this puppy. The manual that comes with the unit is just useful enough to be useless. And they bootup with the craziest start up routine I have ever seen, nary a clue on how to get to CMOS. Cruised the AMD site and not much help there.

So anyone (A) have a EasyNow! unit booting as a terminal or how to get to CMOS? (B) Any suggestions on how to initialize the Media Link on one of these?

Thanks all!
