Dave, Some ideas:
1) Running out of memory - I have run into flash widgets that will consume more and more and more memory.
2) Is this a Dell Poweredge with hardware RAID? There is a known issue with some Dell RAID cards that simply stop talking to the drives.
3) Are you sure the disks are getting mounted EXT3 and not falling back to EXT2?
4) Running top on the server while you run the problem flash should help you watch what is going on.

I am running a Dual Pentium 4 processor with hyperthreading, and I am running VECTOR Linux with raid level 5 on root directory and raid level 1 on the boot and swap. The system runs fine, until I run a flash program through mozilla or firefox, and it crashes from 2-20 mins after being on that flash site. (I'm not sure if its esound thats crashing it, the plugin, or the raid level I'm using). When it reboots the Hard Disk has many errors (with inodes not bad blocks!) But its an ext3 file system which I find odd that it has so many errors after it reboots.
