Having installed LTSP 4.1.1 in order to start using USB sticks I am confused as to how the system actually works. From reading http://www.ltsp.org/ltsp-4.1.1.html apparently it is enough to put

HOTPLUG = Y

in lts.conf, however this does not seem right. The parameter

LOCAL_DEVICE_XX = /dev/???

probably should be used as well as stated in rjune's wiki doc at http://wiki.ltsp.org/twiki/bin/view/Ltsp/LocalDrives

The thing is that while cdroms and floppies are static devices, usb devices sometimes get /dev/hd?, sometimes some SCSI device. So what is the correct device to use in LOCAL_DEVICE? Another thing that has me confused is the use of "${LTSP_HOTPLUG}" = "Y" in the LDA-setup.sh script. How does the script get that variable to evaluate? I cannot find any references to it in the environment, should it be passed in Xstartup?

Ragnar (confused as usual)
