I'm in the process of gathering information for a small demo system for
local public schools. One of their concerns was powering down for the
night, which could save them some considerable cash. The machines I am
using are a hodgepodge of old desktop PCs. Unfortunately, no Optiplex or
Dells for that matter, but I will look into the BIOS option. Thanks

Chris, Do you have a list of the clients if so then edit your lts.conf
and set ALLOW_SHUTDOWN = Y.
Then you can make a script that loops thru the list and executes
"ltspinfo -h $HOST --shutdown"
If you are using PCs as thin clients it might be that they have a shutdown
built into the BIOS. Dell Optiplex machines have this; you can automatically
power them off at the end of the day and have them power on again ready for
the clocking on whistle.
