Ok I am taking it back - it works actually. But it is still a bit strange:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ /sbin/ifconfig
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:40:63:DE:C8:24
inet addr:192.168.60.79 Bcast:192.168.60.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
...
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ hostname
ts12
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ cat /etc/lts.conf
[Default]
XDM_SERVER = vela
[ts12]
SCREEN_01 = startnx electra -p KDE -c wan
XDM_SERVER = electra
... ?

It works fine, if your thin client knows it's hostname. I'm guessing
that your dhcp isn't setup correctly to hand hostnames to the thin

SEARCH_DOMAIN variables from the dhcp response

yes, it would be nice if that worked. I've got it on my list of things
to do for LTSP-4.2.
I do not know if both are bugh or features? I might do some fix for the second
one if none is willing to...
the 1st one isn't a bug, it's likely a setup problem on your end. the
2nd one is definately a bug.
