Hello Ragner,
The same thing happening to me.
How did you get on with this problem?
The users had to be educated that using characters like those which are
special to our alphabet should not be used in file- and directory names.
Thankyou
Chris.

We are using the local device scheme in LTSP 4.1.1, with Gideon's latest
hotplug script. This setup works nicely with USB storage sticks.
However, we have experienced a problem that crops up only when using
files and directories containing characters that are in the
international character sets. The systems we use are almost universially
ISO-8859-1, though some are UTF-8.
It is not possible to write files or directories containing these
characters. Error message sample:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/drives/DiskOnKey_1$ touch å.txt
touch: cannot touch «å.txt»: No such file or directory
Files and directories that have been produced when the stick is not
connected to a thin client are not shown at all in listings.
The question is: does the filesystem on the USB disk supports UTF-8 characters
in the file/directory names ? And if so, does the 'mount' has the
correct parameters
when is invoked at mount time ?
E.g.: for a VFAT volume :
http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/HowTo/MountFATFileSystems
you might try the options described on that page.
Thanks, that was a good point, and I have tried it out. Unfortunately it
does not quite get me there. One of our special characters is still
refused, though this might of course be a bug.
Any more or other ideas?
