Which one of the solutions did you use? There are at least three.

Find the samba smb.conf file (is it in tmp, I can't remember?) and
post it to the list please.

Did you login at the server console or on the client? If I recall
correctly ubuntu uses gnome, so it might be that the url you are using
isn't working for nautilus (the gnome file browser).

Try this instead from a terminal:

smbclient -U nobody \\\\workstation-ip\\floppy

Please note the number of slashes and replace floppy with whatever
name the device is being shared!
