ltsp server and myth server can be the same box without any ado.
ltsp clients are just about unusable as myth client. IE you can't watch
mythtv on a ltsp client.
I did lots of work checking WHY it seems to be NFS.
Fat clients work great
local ring-buffer helps a bit, but it's still j-e-r-k-y
local root in ram, but everything ltsp works great
you need qt3-mysql and mysql client and mysql-server !!(sic)
without the server it won't run, don't do any server setup, but you must have 
it to work (again only fiddled with SuSE)

I eventully did a fat client, SuSE9.3 minimum graphics (400M) and used disk, 
but a complete ltsp in ram root works great too.

So your sound problem is moot
(sound is easy on a fat client)
