Hi,

I want to access the client /dev/dsp, in the lts.conf I have SOUND = Y for the client, but this meant that oss locks the device. So instead I set SOUND=N and editted rc.sound so oss doesn't start.

This worked, "cat /dev/urandom > /dev/dsp" made some modem sound, but when I do
"cat /dev/dsp > /tmp/rec.au", then
"cat /tmp/rec.au > /dev/dsp"

but I don't get any sound. On looking at the file, it was empty.

Does anyone have any idea why?

Thanks

William
