Peter, I have managed to run firefox locally on the client machine. It requires a fair amount of effort. I'll work backwards from firefox, 1) Download the STATIC version of firefox 1.5 2) Firefox requires, GTK+, glib, pango, atk, pkgconfig, and a few more components that i can't remember off the top of my head 3) Build the above components in the ltsp environment 4) You need to build some of these in the lbe environment too 5) Download the first build lbe, I am using version 4.1, but latest is 4.2 i think which has changed a fair bit since
You will also need to modify the lts.conf to add a custom firefox script screen. Flash, i am only guessing, copy the modules into the plugins directory. Hope that helps. I REALLY need flash (and other helpers) to run locally. Do people have this working? On a terminal the environment has $LTSP_HOSTNAME set to '(none)' and after I run /var/yp/make the resulting folder is called '(none)'. Not sure how that ended up that way but should it refer to the sever hostname or client hostname (ws[xxx])? I'm guessing it's the client hostname since the local app howto says were sshing from the server into the client. Also what are libraries I need to move to the terminals root to use top and xterm locally. Thanks so much!!
