I'm running Fedora 3. When I logon I see ltspinfo, ssh-agent, several sshd and bash processes running. I'm watching TOP right now, none of my processes is grabbing any of the cpu, and the server is humming along at about 20% cpu utilization.

After the 3-5 minutes the next thing I see is gnome-session and bonobo-activation, and them my screen 'wakes up' (starts booting), and of course then I get a ton of other processes.

My clients are all Diskless Workstations 150e or 170e's. None of them have any external devices or drives.

LDA refers to Local Drive Access, not Local Device Access. it's used to provide access to Local hard drives, cd roms, floppy disks, and such. Which distro are you using, I have a similar problem in fedora occaisionally. gam_server will goof off at login and my system will just sit there for a few minutes waiting on it to figure out what's going on. I would say when this happens, run top on the server and see what is running as that user.
