We are trying to get our suite of laptops ready for summer outings, the
ones details here:
http://wiki.ltsp.org/twiki/bin/view/Ltsp/SuccessStories#Bristol_Wireless_and_Psand_net_M
I have been working at trying to get a new kernel for these machines. This
started as an idea to build most of the parts of a wireless-ltsp type
floppy together. Our clients boot a hacked version of the wireless-ltsp
floppy from their hard drives. It seems that all I should really need to
do is get together initrd and vmlinuz files and make any necessary
ammendments to the linuxrc, though things have changed in kernel land
since the original disk. I am guessing I might need to re-build the whole
ramdisk structure too though.
It would be good to have any guidelines or notes for building the
necessary items, as I can forsee many blind alleys and false trails ahead.
Can anyone give some advice?
I have made a start on flagging what I think will be issues here
http://www.bristolwireless.net/wiki/index.php/HDBoot2.6 and will make a
start on the laptops today.
