For me it seems to work fine now, but I experienced similar problems in
the beginning.
At some point (while tracking down another problem) I found that lbussd
was not being killed after the session, but instead kept running on the
server. I fixed this by explicitly killing lbussd at the end of each
session.
Now I have no more 'second login' problem, but I am not sure if it was
lbussd that caused it.

Having problem with local device support with ltsp 4.2.
Like some other people it works properly on the first log in after
booting the terminal. Usually will not work after that.
Did not see any solution do far.
Have 2 systems set up with ltsp 4.2 one is one is a production server
in one of our offices and the other a test server at home.
Running Debian sarge.
Running kde
test system runs fam production server does not.
host names are defined in the dns like ws-2-83.advocap.org is
192.168.2.83 etc.
Running custom kernel based on source package 2.6.15 in backports.
Fuse was in the source.
Using fuse fuse-utils and libfuse2 from debian backports:
ii fuse-utils 2.5.2-3bpo1 Filesystem in USErspace (utilities)
ii libfuse2 2.5.2-3bpo1 Filesystem in USErspace library
Tried them from sarge and while it would create an icon on the desktop
it would never mount.
have cat /etc/fuse.conf
user_allow_other
This is the result of the tests from the trouble shooting section.
This is done on a second login when it is not working.
There are no media icons being created on the desktop.
From the terminal:
at /etc/version
#
# Linux Terminal Server Project - LTSP
# For more info, visit http://www.ltsp.org
#
VERSION=4.2
1058 root 1616 S /sbin/lbuscd
1384 tty2 root 1544 R grep lbuscd
hostname
ws-101-183.localdomain
cat fstab
/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part1
/tmp/drives/Removable_Device_30_Mb auto rw,noatime 0 0
/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target1/lun0/cd /tmp/drives/readonly auto ro 0 0
Using localdomain as this is on home system and do not have a real
domain name to use and want to keep as much as possible like
production server.
The other tests:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ id
uid=500(john) gid=500(john)
groups=24(cdrom),29(audio),100(users),118(fuse),500(john),501(ruthi)

crw-rw---- 1 root fuse 10, 229 May 25 14:06 /dev/fuse
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ echo $DISPLAY
ws-101-183.localdomain:0.0
/usr/sbin/lbus_event_handler.sh add block /tmp 1024 Temp
gives no errors when run.
Clicking on icon gives "Unable to run the command specified. The file
or folder file:/home/john/Drives//tmp does not exist."
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ls Drives/
tmp
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ls -l Drives
ls: Drives/tmp: No such file or directory
total 0
Just in case it may have any relation to this having a problem with
sound also but that is a lower priority.
/usr/X11R6/bin/nasd -aa
gives:
Fatal server error:
Cannot establish any listening sockets
