This post does state my boss did the work and happened to mention
something to me in the morning (know what its like in the morning right,
when you've just woke up and not "fully up to speed". That was one of
those days for both of us).

Please see my post "LBE and kernel/initrd" (13:02) this should clear any
further confusion.

for sake of clarity I'll include a snipit here:

"We can boot a kernel but only if it is not tagged for etherboot. The
idea is we will skip the etherboot bit and lump the kernel and initrd
straight onto the CF. However the kernel (2.6.16.1) and an initramfs.gz
from an LTSP 2.6.16.1 install gets as far as looking for the modules
directory in the initial ram disk to load the NIC driver then complains
that it can't find /lib/modules/2.6.16.1/. and this is where we come to
a brick wall. It seems we need an LTSP initramfs.gz that will work with
a non-etherboot tagged kernel."

with this goes a snip from another post my boss made titled
"LTSP_Kernel_kit":

"Can anybody provide a link to download a kernel kit without having to
download the rest of the lbe?

I've tried building on ubuntu (dapper) but the build fails at e2fsprogs,
all stated dependencies are installed. All I am trying to do is to build
a new kernel and initramfs."

The frustrating part is we know we must be stupidly close to getting
this working, but were not quite there yet.
