I've got some old 10mbit only boxes which have a similar problem.
You might want to check both ends of the connection agree as to which 
speed and duplex they are running at.

In my case I'm using:
option option-129     "MOPTS=nolock,ro,rsize=1024,wsize=1024,proto=tcp";
