Hi, now I've checked the sites you indicated, with OpenSUSE 10.0, Firefox 1.06, with and without mplayer plugin. Didn't get around to trying Konqueror (or any combination running e. g. Windows Media Player - or even MS Internet Explorer - under CrossoverOffice/WINE) or e. g. Opera.

I'm sorry, buy there is not a direct link to it. > > http://www.foxnews.com/ Works just fine here, even before installing the mplayer plugin, full screen or inside a cluttered browser window. I'd better try not to comment on the channel ("Across America"), other than "we don't have anything remotely like this over here". > Here is the CNN.com video site. I remember the CNN issue has been up in the Mozilla newsgroups, and I'll go take a look at the solution for it later. FWIW, CNN has trouble determining what Media Player version I've got in Firefox (1.5.0.6) on Windows too, but at least it lets me view things. > BBC News -- I can't get it to work with selecting either RealPlayer or > Windows Media Player. > > http://www.bbc.co.uk/ Them coding RealPlayer stuff only for RP 10.x is truly bad. I wouldn't be surprised if they point to "DRM" if asked. Howver, with the mplayer plugin, I can watch their Windows Media, ironically. Haven't tried with a free RealPlayer substitute (yet). BTW, when looking for the links down below, I found this: http://www.real.com/linux/?rppr=rnwk&src=040104freeplayer With the mplayer plugin, Kaffeine is spawned from the browser, and I can watch e. g. "Iraqi children kept indoors". However, I've so far only managed to get the default, poor quality feed... :( Remember checking what cookies have been set for the various sites. More or less everyone stores your player preferences in cookies, like it or not. > I have flash playing on the server now, but these sites still do not work. I can't remember seeing any flash content on these sites other than the small things playing non-stop on the main page, and they seemed just OK here. I believe that if those things work in any Linux version, you can have them working in SUSE too.
