Heh. Good place to start would be to talk to sun, and tell them that writing to /dev/dsp is soooooo 80's. Unfortunately, Java writes DIRECTLY to the sound device, and doesn't use something like the gstreamer libraries that can be re-directed. Some people have tried to use esddsp, but my understanding is it doesn't work well with java. Ultimately, the community will need to either convince Sun to fix it, or, if Sun does finally decide to open up Java, perhaps we can fix it. I don't know if anyone's ever played around with any of the free java interpreters out there, gcj, or kaffe. Scott -- Scott L.
