Thanks for getting me to actually take the time to understand Gconf-editor a bit there Gadi.
Can you tell us which parameters to set to prevent a particular device or group of devices from being shown? I have a /apps/nautilus/desktop/volumes_visible which would seem to be appropriate, but not very specific, just a general "if it mounts then icon it, or not".
