I updated my ltsp-4.2 installation and the 2.6.16.1 kernel works great. The 2.6.17.8 kernel doesn't - dhcpcd fails.

It should show several packages that need to be updated. Go ahead and
apply the updates. At the end, you should end up with at least 2 kernels.
The 2.6.16 and the 2.6.17.
Try setting the 'filename' entry in your dhcpd.conf file to either one of
those kernels and then try booting the client.
If that doesn't work, it would really help if we knew which network
chipset your client has. It may require cracking the case open and looking
inside at the chips.
Without that, we're just stabbing in the dark.
