Well, Flash 9 doesn't support ESD, but it works with Alsa.

It seems that PulseAudio can do the trick, by forwarding Alsa stream to 
the terminal. It seems a great solution for other applications too.

I didn't tried it myself, but if it does the trick, we should switch 
from ESD. The great thing is that PulseAudio server listen for ESD 
stream too, so it make sens to get rid of it on the terminal side.

Debian and Fedora has packages for pulseaudio, should recompile for 
Ubuntu and Mandriva.
