Hi list,

regarding the sound of this client I found out (Knoppix live CD, alsaconf)
that it has a built in cs4236 chip.
So I used
SMODULE_01 = snd-cs4236
SMODULE_02 = snd-pcm-oss
in lts.conf (and followed the instructions in the wiki: sound, cards and
work in progress).
This leads to a pop in the speakers at boot time and correct initialization
of the card. Alsamixer lets me control the volume also.
But still no sound!
Every other client with autodetected sound cards plays esd-sound
beautifully.
I don't understand the difference - I thought the autodetected cards are
driven by alsa, too?
Is it because of ISA<->PCI?
Am I right that with 4.2 the alsa-drivers have to be used and that the
oss-drivers (with ISA-irqs and so on) are not working?
Anyway,
So much time for such a problem (very vew users are missing the sound at
all) - I will stop working at this now.
Happy weekend,

Frank
