Have you tried using it on a "thick" computer running a full Linux or Windows installation in order to make sure that the particular hardware you bought isn't defective? When trying out new funky peripherals it's probably a good idea to take LTSP out of the equation to make sure you understand the hardware and that it does work properly. Just an idea...
