Hi all; I use that chipset since the A version with the Allied Telesyn (and generics) NICs. Since the rtl8139, 8139too and 8139cp cards that all works fine until the last chipset (8139D-b (some last series)) which doesn´t uses that driver anymore. The last 4 of that card that I got run with a different driver (sm90402 (or something like that)) that is just a pain in the ***, they don't work properly and driver ONLY support 2.4 kernel series (read the driver manual that comes with the NIC). Since LTSP no longer support 2.4 kernel and if ur NIC doesn't work within 8139too driver, throw it away =] []s Daniel Mealha Cabrita escreveu: In this "lspci case" I believe what happens is what once a person (one involved with the 8139too Linux module development, well, the fixing of that module) told me: Some 8139s may, by themselves, lose the PCI ID (it resets to all zeroes) by no apparent cause, thus being unable to be properly configured by the OS.It's worth mentioning that those cards have severe hardware bugs (the drivers do all the kind of tricks in order to avoid them). By my own experience I know it's not reliable to have two 8139s in the same machine, neither to allow a 8139 to share an IRQ with any other device. Still, I believe using those cards in X terminals is ok.
