Werner- You can try to run wine with the --verbose option, perhaps that will give you better results. Usually whenever I have seen an app run locally but then fail on a remote terminal it is because the app demands local shared memory from the X server (terminal). If there are any logs, look for errors involving MIT-SHM . If that is the case, there is probably a configuration option to tell wine not to use shared memory; most applications do not require it; I know wine does not require it because I am able to use CrossOver Office (a wine derivative) on terminals. BTW, shared memory allows the application to more efficiently display graphics, but it only works when the application and the X server are on the same physical machine.
