Next step is to put the created Initial ram disk (myinitrd.gz) and the kernel (/tftpboot/lts/2.6.17.8-ltsp-1/bzImage-2.6.17.8-ltsp-1) on the laptops When you look at these files you will see that the size of vmlinuz is nearly the size of bzimage and initramfs.gz together. Actually, vmlinuz is the addition of kernel and initramfs togther with some tweaking that is needed for booting over the net. This is why you cant boot vmlinuz directly. > > shouldn't the kernel file be > > /tftpboot/lts/2.6.17.8-ltsp-1/bzImage-2.6.17.8-ltsp-1 > > or rather > > /tftpboot/lts/vmlinuz-2.6.17.8-ltsp-1 ?? > > It is not clear to me the difference between bzImage-2.6.17.8-ltsp-1 and > vmlinuz-2.6.17.8-ltsp-1. I send this mail to the list also, maybe it helps someone else. At the moment I am trying to do the same with wlan, but its much more complicated since the kernel module I need is not included in the ltsp distribution.
