I've got the problem the other way round: When a terminal is switched on and when someone logs in and out, this is visible at once, but when a terminal goes off completely (by ltspinfo or by manual switching it off), this will disappear only after about 4 minutes or so. There is a supervision tool I've made for myself to monitor which terminal in which PC lab is still on and where someone is logged in. To feed this program with data, I use "who" and "ps aux". My app will then extract the necessary data from this and make a list of terminals and users. Maybe you know how to make it better?
