Hi there,

I'm very new to thin client devices and concepts and would appreciate
confirmation if the following is possible:

I would like to run a thin client device (e.g. SYM1110) with an
external USB sound device in a Linux environment. Could I PXE boot the
SYM1110 over the LAN from a server with a kernel that includes the
LTSP-esd-alsa module and run an audio application that outputs to an
ALSA device via the USB port? If the music files were on the server
would I access them via a conventional NFS?

Would a better solution be to run an NX client from the thin client
device in which case the audio app would actually be running on the
server? Could the audio app on the server, controlled from the thin
client via NX, output to the USB audio device attached to the thin
client (via esd?)?

USB audio is essential for digital out to a high quality audio DAC, the idea
being to eliminate noise by using a diskless, fanless thin client device. I am
yet to purchase a device so if anyone has suggestions as to a suitable device
for this purpose that would be great.

Many thanks!

Dave
