that's quite an interesting projet. Thanks for the link! However it is aimed at powering web site image viewer, but not an ltsp infrastructure. Nevertheless the concept of client/server video interaction would be much better than the current x11/xv export of the whole video in a uncompressed format (huge waste of bandwidth and definitly not HDTV quality...). I'm not a fan of local apps either (for management issues mainly). What I'd be looking for would be a "ltsp-aware" gstreamer plugin that would forward the flow un-decompressed to the thin client, and that rendering would be done on client side just for the clip area of the video. Most of the needed stuff is around (client/server authentication though X cookie à la ltspfs, streaming server app like vlc or other, and streaming client app like vlc or mplayer), just need some time to glue the whole thing together.
