Since all services are running on the server this is just as if you
were running NX on server.

If you are looking to provide session persistence without NX you can
look at combination of gdm.conf and logout scripts for X that do not
purge processes etc. I remember under combination of LTSP3 and RH7 we
could actually do this by default.
