Here's what I have:

    * edubuntu 7.04
    * AMD 64 bit processor
          o Can't remember the exact numbers
    * 2 gig ram
    * Two network cards
          o on board is for internet
          o Other network card is for thin client network
    * 10/100 switch

Problem

    * streaming music from the net
    * 50 % of the bandwidth on the server is used
    * Only one thin client connected

Other problems

    * youtube videos are jerky

Should I get a faster network?

    * Faster connection for the server
          o Gigabit
          o Two gigabit network cards bonded together
    * Gigabit connection for the client
          o Not sure I can do this

Note:

    I'm setting up a lab of 5 thin clients. Testing with one thin client
    shows bandwidth isues. Genral use like Open Office, surfing the net
    etc... works fine. Streaming music from the web sucks up a lot of
    bandwidth. Totem could be the problem. That's the application I'm
    using to play music. I'll try switching to rythembox.

    I'm hoping there is a way to improve the quality of youtube videos.

    Well... I guess that's it for now. I'll post more if I find anything.
