It's all the matter of the $DISPLAY variable - if it says the server's
IP, then you probably use X tunneling via ssh.
Use $DISPLAY to find out where is your X server and then you can use
your x11vnc (or x0vncserver or "vnc" X server module).
The utility can be run anywhere and can also tell you where is it
listening for connections (usually port 590X).
