I have been in contact with 2x, who say that clipboard interaction is
supported. I'm not sure whether I was wrong, or whether this has been
improved since I downloaded it, probably the latter as there is no mention of
it in the documentation. They also advise that drive mapping will be
available from Q2/3 this year. Good news.

To correct myself, the Fontis link provides a patch to enable published
applications to share a single connection (i.e. a single TS licence). This
also means that only the first connection needs to log on, improving
performance and helping to make the Windows applications behave more like a
local application.

On the other hand the Fontis link requires patching of both Rdesktop and
SeamlessRDP, and resulted in the following behaviour, described in my earlier
post:

We are therefore using Cendio's SeamlessRDP only to connect to explorer.exe
with the NoDesktop registry hack, so that it publishes a Windows taskbar on
our LTSP desktop. Each application run from the Windows taskbar uses the same
connection and TS licence.

If you already have Rdesktop 1.5, the installation is as simple as copying
Cendio's SeamlessRDP into a directory on the Windows server, and hacking the
registry to suppress the Windows desktop. Instructions on using SeamlessRDP
are included in the standard Rdesktop man pages.

Our experience so far has been fairly positive, the Windows applications are
working on our LTSP desktops, with sound, drive mapping (i.e. My Documents
takes you to the LTSP user's home directory), and printer mapping.

On the downside, applications appear on both the KDE taskbar and the Windows
taskbar, which can be confusing; ideally I would suppress the applications
from the KDE taskbar. Also the Windows taskbar is not respected by the KDE
applications, which does mean that you have to minimise everything to get to
the Windows taskbar. Also we have had a few display issues on the Windows
taskbar, where for example the Internet Explorer titlebar would fail to erase
on minimise, thereby obsuring the taskbar.

Even without these minor issues, I dislike giving my users a Windows taskbar,
so my intention is to go the 2x route once they implement drive mapping.

Chris.
