LDM_SERVER is what you look for then ... > > If this is possible, will local devices and sound continue to work maybe > with some configuration? you will need the ltspfs package on the server side and note that ubuntus gnome respects the LTSP_CLIENT variable (exported by ldm) in many areas, so features that are supressed on ubuntu because they could do harm are disabled through that, i suspect RHEL5 wont have that (without these changes your users are allowed to shut down or hibernate the server from teh logout dialog, can use screensavers that make your net go down etc ...) so your mileage may vary here ...
