Sounds like you are trying to load a kernel with PXE.  Instead, you need 
to load pxelinux.0, which is a 2nd-state bootloader, which will then go 
and load the kernel.

Check the LTSP wiki for examples of how to setup the 'filename' 
parameter in your dhcp config file.
