Hello Group,

I am trying to enable sound on some Visara Neoware eterm300 thin client
machines. These windows based terminals will PXE boot into Edubuntu LTSP
easily, and the usb ports are recognized. However, I am having
difficulty getting the sound chip to either be recognized or to work
with Pulse Audio / Edubuntu. Following are the client specifications:

Processor - Sis 550, 200MHz
Main Memory - 64Mb SDRAM (up to 256MB)
Flash Memory - DOC 32Mb (up to 64MB)
Graphics - Resolution: Up to 1280 x 1024
- Colors: 65,536
- Vertical Refresh rate: Up to 85hz
Audio - 16-bit stereo 44.1KHz audio output
Networking - TCP/IP with DNS, WINS, and DHCP
- 10/100BaseT Ethernet, twisted pair (RJ-45)
- Point to Point Protocol (PPP)
I/O Ports - One 2-pin power connector
- One 15-pin female VGA compatible connector
- One 8-pin female RJ-45 connector
- One 6-pin female PS/2 mouse connector
- One 6-pin female PS/2 keyboard connector
- One 25-pin female parallel connector
- Two Universal Serial Bus connectors
Power Supply - Input: AC 100~240V, 50~60Hz
Dimensions - (W x H x D) 7.66” x .15” x 5.96” (194.5mm x 4.0mm x 151.5mm )

Looking at the board I see a chip marked "AD1881A" and this seems to be
Analog Devices AD1881A SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio. So, I tried
loading some sound modules in lts.conf, as in the following:

[default]
X_COLOR_DEPTH=16
X_MODE_0=1024x768
LOCALDEV=True
SOUND=True
NBD_SWAP=True
SWAP=128M
LDM_DIRECTX=True
MODULE_01=snd-intel8x0
MODULE_02=snd-ac97-codec

Still, no sound when the client boots. Pulse Audio manager on the client
says connection is refused and shows no sinks or streams, etc. Could
anyone offer some advice?

Also, another issue with this client: Is there anyway to access the
flash memory DOC and use it for some storage or local swap perhaps? It
is not seen by Edubuntu currently.

Thanks for any suggestions.
