step 1) Put nothing into your lts.conf file
            ie /var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp/i386/lts.conf 
is blank

step 2) try booting. If that fails tell us EXACTLY what happens

(example WHY 
SOUND       =true               # it's true already
LOCALDEVICE = true      # it to defaults true
NBD_SWAP    =true               # why run before you can walk
)

login as root is cute and usefull if there is an X problem. You are wasting 
you time if say the squash image does not mount.
