Thanks Gadi I found I also needed the X_MODE_0 line:- [<client MAC address>] X_MODE_0 = 1280x1024 X_HORZSYNC = "30-80" X_VERTREFRESH = "59-75" Steve Holmes LTSP5, Ubuntu 8.04LTS, HomePlug powerline clients in lts.conf: [<client MAC address>] X_VERTREFRESH = "60-75" X_HORZSYNC = "30-80" HTH, -Gadi On Fri, 2008-07-18 at 14:16 +0100, Steve Holmes wrote:Greetings I've setup a small Ubuntu 8.04LTS LTSP server but I'm having trouble with video configs - mainly on one client - after the boot splash I just get a warning that the video sync is out of range. It says the vertical refresh is only 55Hz which is indeed below the monitor spec of 59-75. Monitor is LCD: CTX S700A. It warns "Mode should be below 1280 x 1024 75Hz".Other client monitors, one LCD and one CRT are OK. I created /var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp/i386/lts.conf and an entry with the client MAC. Then I put X_VERTREFRESH = 60 and rebooted the client, but it had no effect. The edubuntu doc 'customizing-thin-client' indicates that this will only force lower values, so perhaps that is normal. I then created a custom xorg-nv.conf with "Device" "Driver" "nv" since the client uses nV GeForce 6150LE. In lts.conf I put X_CONF=/etc/X11/xorg-nv.conf. This had an effect - it forced the HorizSync down to 35Khz (from 69KHz), but left VertRefresh at 55Hz - still out of range. I tried adding HorizSync and VertRefresh settings into the "Monitor" section of my custom xorg-nv.conf but these had no effect. I also tried doing ltsp-update-image after these changes. I don't understand why my settings have no effect. Any enlightenment would be appreciated.
