I created a file users.js in the Thunderbird default directory placed
the following in it user_pref("network.protocol-handler.app.ftp",
"/usr/bin/firefox");
user_pref("network.protocol-handler.app.http", "/usr/bin/firefox");
user_pref("network.protocol-handler.app.https", "/usr/bin/firefox");
