Dor etherboot images, it is not enough to just run update-initramfs.
You must:

1.  chroot /opt/ltsp/i386 update-initramfs -u
2.  chroot /opt/ltsp/i386 /usr/lib/ltsp/update-kernels
3.  ltsp-update-kernels

Step #2 makes the nbi image using the updated initramfs created in step
#1.
