I had severe performance problems after "upgrading" from Hardy (Ubuntu 8.04) to Jaunty (9.04). Here's a short thread about it: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=200904201029.47122.bjorn.helgaas%40hp.com&forum_name=ltsp-discuss I think the biggest improvement was when I upgraded the LTSP chroot from Hardy to Jaunty (that didn't happen automatically when I upgraded the server).
