You didn't do sth. like  ltsp-build-client --dist ....

We sometimes have problems that more than one nbd server  is running.
Try ps aux | grep nbd and kill all nbd processes. Restart nbd. Maybe
that helps.

Otherwise: I ran out of ideas.
