I noticed that when I add
SOUND=False

to lts.conf I no longer have sound in an ldm session. When I try to
unmute the volume control, gnome informs me that there is no sound
device, but perhaps that's just because there is no sound device on
the server and no pulseaudio server? I ran alsamixer in the client
shell again and it identifies

Card: ALi M5455
Chip: VIA Technologies VIA1612A

I'm really stumped, and I would really like to make this work if
anybody has any other ideas.
