Fortunately, in practice, it does not really matter as either do the
same.  In principle, it really matters.  PXE(1) and gPXE(2), aka
etherboot(3), differ in philosophy.  PXE is an Intel specification,
and gpxe/etherboot are a Free and Open Source implementation of this
protocol.  Marty Connor magically makes this happen, and the Etherboot
project also runs the ever amazing Rom-o-Matic(4) site.  All this is
to say that that if you can help perpetuate FOSS with dollars, buying
products from vendors like Jim M. or Marty C., or products with a
gpxe/etherboot chipset, serves both your bottom line and a whole lot
more.  These guys and these projects' respective contributors are who
you see at community events and on mailing lists turning the wheel of
freedom.
