We actually had some trouble with this setting as well when we initially deployed. It's also one of those things that once we got right, we didn't necessarily have a ton of documentation on to remind us of what we did.
I know that most of it had to do with the file in the user's home directory ".dmrc" .dmrc contents: [Desktop] Session=icewm I think the permissions on the .dmrc file also had to be 644 There may have been other things required, but I know this was involved :) Good luck.
