I just installed LTSP using the Ubuntu 9.10 Alternate CD. I installed dnsmasq per the Ubuntu docs at
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/ProxyDHCP we have a dhcp server on the local LAN that I cannot modify so dhcp proxying is my only choice if I want to use the local network hardware. I tried PXE booting one of the candidate PC's we have, a 5 years old HP desktop, and it times out requesting an IP? Is there a way to test a NIC to verify it can or cannot use the proxy dhcp service that dnsmasq is providing? Possibly a list of know working nics? Also I was looking at gPXE. Can I use gPXE burned to a CD and boot to an LTSP server using a proxy dhcp dnsmasq? thanks, Scott ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Download Intel® Parallel Studio Eval Try the new software tools for yourself.
