Things are different if you need to open a full Windows session or just run one
or two program:
- the thin client can open a RDP connection to the Windows Terminal Server
- same can be done inside the Linux session (using rdesktop or VNC)
- programs can be launched inside the Linux session using SeamlessRDP or VNC.
I think this is what you want. But you may run in troubles with WindowsXP and
SeamlessRDP.

For SeamlessRDP See
http://rdesktop.sourceforge.net/ (rdesktop and seamlessrdp)
http://www.fontis.com.au/rdesktop (patch for seamlessrdp)
As sort of SeamlessRDP for windows
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/IP/tswindowclipper.aspx?fid=144574

You will find plenty of guides on the Ubuntu Wiki and forums or by googling
with "seamlessRDP"

For VNC solutions:
http://metavnc.sourceforge.net/
http://w2.alkit.se/avnc/
http://www.tigervnc.com/ (partly developped by Cendio, creator of
SeamlessRDP)
and of course the well known RealVNC and TightVNC

Note that Wine may be an easier solution.

Hope this help
